Yesterday I was out of the family room for about 15 minutes and came back in. I had left part of a newspaper on my chair and a magazine on the end table and I realized that I hadn't even been concerned about Duke shredding them. That's because he has been so good about that lately. Then I started realizing there were quite a few things that I used to have to watch him like a hawk about that he doesn't do anymore. The bathroom door can stay open without him dragging the towels off the rack. Toys aren't scattered all over the floor just for the sake of scattering them. We haven't had to spray bitter apple on any furniture in a few months and my table runner has actually stayed on my table!

My little boy is growing up! Oh, he will always be a clothes thief and my sandals aren't the least bit safe anywhere near him, but so many things I have finally been able to relax about. Back in the day (like 3 months ago), I couldn't turn my back on him for a second, but I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the puppy tunnel! Woohoo!

What accomplishments has your beagle made lately, things that make you proud (or relieved.LOL)?

Now that you mention it, Chloe has been good that way lately, too. I'll be the first one to admit that I won't leave the house without elevating whatever is important to me and close the closet and bathroom doors.... but I can totally ignore her for more than a few minutes and be in a different part of the apartment (which unforunatly isn't big...) and I won't be worried... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Ive got a ton of proud moments. Zoey can already sit, shake and she knows when i say "crate" its time for her to hop in take a nap and I'll be out of work in no time. She greets people who come in the door in a sitting position never jumping on them and she always accepts her treats the same way sitting and waiting patiently. Shes been responded to training better then any dog i've ever had and @ 13 weeks i'm very proud.

Maggie is almost two and still steals but its a game for her. If I notice first she will respond to leave it. She will shake, high five, give ten, roll over, right and left spin, leave a treat sitting in front of her until given permission to take it, down or sit/stay until released and take a bow. I was just thinking its time to learn something new. She gets really excited when I ask if she wants to work because that means treats! Also when we are practicing the things she knows if I say what else can you do, she just does the things she knows randomly. Anything for a cookie!!

Two thumbs up to you Duke! You're growing up.

Josh, I'm jealous! At 13 weeks, Zoey can do more than Jersey can at almost 3 years! No leaving her alone in the crate and no nice greetings!

But I know how you guys feel. I was excited like that when Jersey stopped stealing shoes (although she will steal the socks if you leave them together!). It's great now that she's older and less mischievous. She can go into one of the bedrooms here and I don't worry about what she's getting into.

Way to go!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup2.gif

I'm proud of my little girl lately. We've been doing obedience training (which I have a question I'll ask in another post) but all in all she just seems more "calm", for lack of a better word because it's not really calm - just not psycho dog. Well maybe alittle psycho dog, just not "out of control" psycho dog! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

We've been noticing some big steps with Maddie now too! It's really exciting (and a relief)! She now responds to "sit", in fact, will often sit before we even say it (we give the command before we feed her or take her outside).
Also, she is finally starting to listen to "no". The other day she was up on the couch with me and starting chewing the zipper on my pants. I said "no" and put her down. And miracle of miracles, she went and found a chew toy and jumped back on the couch and began chewing that! Yay Maddie!!

Glad about all those accomplishments. We alsoare experiencing them. Susi hasnt peed in the house since December. It suddenly stopped, like she had made a new years resolution. Both Susi and Snoopy are getting better on walks and dont bark at our neighbours dogs at all. The regular dog walkers in our woods have even commented that our beagles are getting better- though they still scream if dogs come up to them.

Molly has had a few accomplishments since coming to us from the shelter about 2 months ago.

- she is SLOWLY learning to go potty outside instead of in the house

- she is learning what things belong to her and letting up on her stealing of our things

- less and less barking at everything that goes by our front window

- we took her pen down and she is loose in the kitchen while we are at work. Minimal damage to things and only one potty accident!

GOOD GIRL! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Maggie just learned recently how to "catch". She would run and get something and bring it back but if I threw it up in the air she would never jump and catch. Now she does and I am so proud of her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Its the collective effect of the "force" we all exude that make our Beagles obey without speking.
"molly, use the force to stop barking at the window"
"maddie, use the force to stop chewing on that zipper"
"miley, use the force for good"
