...do you feed your beagles their evening meal?

and

...what time do your adult dogs wake up in the morning?

I feed Rosa and Sherry their dinner at about 6pm and Rosa has always been fine with this but Sherry wakes early because she seems to be hungry. Rosa will happily sleep until 8-9am if I'm not getting up for work but Sherry is awake and whining at 5am /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif and she doesn't stop if I ignore her, she just gets very agitated.

It's not because she wants to go out because she can use the dog door and does. It must be coz she is hungry because she walks to her bowl then if I give her her breakfast she eats then goes back to sleep.

I accept she might be hungry but I really don't want her waking me up at 5am. I could delay her evening meal by a couple of hours but that might upset Rosa who has been fed at 6pm all her life.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif I don't know what to do.

Abby has a bowl of dry food available to her 24/7. I also give her a mid-day meal.

As far as what time she wakes up...usually it's whenever I get out of bed that she actually gets up and out of bed also (usually sometime around 10). /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Could you give Sherry a little bedtime snack? If you don't want to give Rosa a snack too, maybe you could give it to her privately somehow.
Or maybe a longer walk just before bedtime? If she's really tired at bedtime, maybe she'll sleep longer in the morning. If I've been real busy during the day and haven't given Shiloh very many walks, she'll start barking around 4 the next morning /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif instead of her usual 5:30-6 a.m.!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tired.gif

We feed the girls around 8pm, and Daisy will sleep until we get up, and sometimes later! If she does happen to get hungry when we are not available, she has discovered that she can chew a hole in the bottom of the bag of dog food. (She shares with her Great Dane sis, so it is a really big bag!).
Thanks for replies.

Genie...a bedtime snack sounds an idea. I'm sure I could manage it without Rosa knowing because Rosa is a very heavy sleeper and when she's in a deep sleep and snoring for England I can eat myself and she won't wake. I can even eat cheese and open and close the fridge many times without her stirring /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Or failing that, she often goes outside for late night territory survelliance duties so I could sneek in a quick Sherry snack then :hi:

I'd rather not give them both a snack because Rosa is a little bit "fluffy"

I'll give it a try tonight.

PS: I can't leave food out 24/7 because Rosa would eat it all and get even more "fluffy" than she already is

Monty gets his supper at 5:00, but it takes him till about 6:00 to eat it, because that's right when I get home, so he's usually more interested in seeing me then eating. which is surprising!
About 5:00am he'll wake up, and wine to get out of his crate, I would normally put him straight outside when he comes out, but lately he's been going straight for my spot in the bed, and staying there with me until about 6:00, when i get up for work. On weekends, he'll come out of his crate and sleep on the bed until whenever i drag my lazy butt out of bed! I love the cuddle time this gives me, it makes my day so much better!!
Sorry, not much help here! The Bagel only gets fed once a day, when I leave for work which is anywhere from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM during the week or anytime from 4:00 to 11:00 AM on weekends. Bagel will sleep until at least 9:00 AM unless I put my shoes on (Last thing I do before heading to work) when he stretches and gets ready to go outside!

I suspect Sherry spent a lot of time in a cage and is set in her ways. You can try a later snack but feed her when you want and when Rosa is used to. You can fuss over them when you feed them in the morning but establish your terms and Sherry will come to accept them!
Maggie and Calvin eat at around 6:00pm, but it took awhile to convince them to eat once per day. I agree with Bob, Sherry will have to learn your rules, so ignoring her might convince her you mean business (easier said than done I'm sure).

However....I leave a snack filled Kong for each of them in the morning before work. Maggie has separation problems, so now she looks forward to her morning snack when mom leaves instead of moping and crying. It puts a bit of something in their tummies.
