All went well today, left a house with her squalling and came home to a puppy that was happy to see me!! lol

She was quit when i came home, and after playing and riding around with me, we came home and ate.

after she finished eating i figured i would put her in the crate while i ate, trying to cut down her begging and bother people while they are eating. After about a min of her hollaring and me trying to reassure her that she is fine and i am right here she finally got quite while i ate. As much as it churned my stomach to do this to her i know it is the best for her.

Right now she is out and she is laying on my leg sleeping!!

Oh yea she got lots of praises when she came out of the crate and i feed her little treats, Pieces of Hotdog! Boy she love a piece of that!

This is so good to know...... I'm thrilled to read that. Keep on the good work, and you'll soon have a well trained puppy.
I have 12 days off starting Wednesday, and I'm going to try and work with Chloe again on Crate training. It kills me that she is fine at night, but as soon as I'm out of her sight, she's starting to scream (when she is in the crate).

Anyway, great job Madison. :thumbup:

well we tried the crate again tonight, she slept in it for 2 hrs, then i took her outside, then let her sleep with me for 2 hrs. then she went back in the crate for another 2 hrs, then she slept with me for the rest of the night.

So 4 hrs in the crate, and 4 hrs in the bed! Lol

I don't mind her sleeping with me at night, but i don't want her on the bed and have a chance of getting down and messing in the house ya know.

Plus when we visit friends and we stay over night, i rather her be in the crate then sleeping on their bed.

Try not to let her sleep with you... (I know its fun for you no less than it is for her - experience), but if you want her to adjust to sleeping in her crate, just leave her there...
If she cries, try sticking you thumb in there for her to know you are there.... it used to calm Chloe down. I have her crate next to my bed.

Just wish she would stay in there during the day and be quiet.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I know i should leave her in there. Tonight i will make her stay in there the whole time. Other then bathroom time! lol

When she starts crying i take her outside, Which is why it's been 2 hrs intervals. She does go to the bathroom each time i take her, so it isn't a whining for no reason.

As for staying in the crate during the day, that is no problem really, she whines about 20 sec and after talking to her and telling her everything is fine, she settles down as i go out the door. Plus she listen to the TV.
Today is the first Vet visit! that ought to be fun, and after the visit i am going to get her some blanket material from the fabric store that way she will have a blanket like mine on the bed, which she really likes!

I mean she will get off the bed sheets, and get on the quilts! Either way things are adjusting well!

That's great. Just make sure that when you take her out of the crate, it's not when she is crying. That way she won't associate crying with "breaking free"... :thumbup:

Try rewarding her while she is in the crate, a positive thing to be in the crate. Stick a treat through the bars, her favorite kind. If you can, carry the crate to your bedroom at night so she can see you while sleeping, and not on your bed. Keep calling her name, telling her you are still around. Put a warm bottle or heating pad under her blanket the feeling of mommy's warmth.
Remember, crating is not a bad thing , a place where they call their den, a secure place. You are reinforcing the fact. By now Charlie does not need the gate, he likes to go in and out as he pleases.

Sounds like you are doing good. I agree, do not let her sleep with you because you will have little control over when to turn that on and off. Also, when you take her out during the night, no playing or treats in between. It's out to do her business and back in. She will get used to it all. Marley did pretty quickly, and then soon he didn't need a potty break during the night at all.
