My beagle pup has recently become OBSESSED with smelling people's armpits. yep. armpits. At first it was funny, now its kinda weird and embarrassing. We've tried NO but that just makes him sneak and pretend like he wants you to pet him so he can reach up and stick his nose down there. Its so weird i just dont know what to make of it.

Ours wants to smell everyone's breath, but I have not heard of a dog smelling armpits. I am not sure that you will be able to break the habit. Your dog may just find that to be the easiest way to identify people. Sorry I can't help.

I think every beagle (dog in general) has their favourite area to sniff.

Zelda likes to sniff belly buttons and dog butts.

Java loves to sniff and lick armpits and ears. It's not like he goes bezerks for them, he's just opportunistic. Hey, if you're armpit is exposed or your ears are ground level, it's fair game.

Chloe usually licks me when I'm mad at her, after a few minutes she comes over to reconcile, but sniffing she usually saves for the crack under the door and the rugs.

Mine both have a thing for peoples legs. Anyone that comes over in the summer will get a beagle bath. Bare legs beware.

Ben has a thing for knees. He is always smelling people's knees.
He also like to lick bare feet.

Maggie doesn't have any weird sniffing obsessions (licking yes, smelling, no) but my previous beagle Molly was an armpit sniffer.

I suppose he feels it's more polite than sniffing the human's butt.

Elvis is a foot sniffer who will also lick any exposed foot.
