Finally, we are seeing some improvement on our 'Trix' in regards to losing weight and the gas problem.
Our local vet recommended using canned green beans mixed with her food. Mixing in about 1/3 cup beans into 2/3 cup of Purina One. Gas problem is all but gone. She dropping some weight and walks are easier on her. We feed twice a day at 7am and 5pm and find this combination of food and time to be best so far.
I always recommend the grean beans too. They fill them up but don't pack on the pounds. If your beag ever does have really bad gas, a tablespoon of plain yogurt really helps!

Dumb question - do you heat up the beans or just drain and add to the food?
JoJo was Beneful after we adopted her and the gas was horrible!! We switched her to a mix of Nutro and Innova EVO and the gas is pretty much gone (unless she gets into something or has too many treats).
When we give her veggies, she doesn't seem to care whether they're heated up. But we'll typically heat them just a tad so as not to burn her mouth.
We use frozen green beens right out of the freezer. It lasts a little longer and actually is good for their teeth. Carrots are good too since they clean the teeth. I like to give brussell sprouts. I love them and my wife hates them so the only way I can get them is by sharing them with Tucker.
The only vegatables we don't give are raisins, grapes, onions, and others I can't think of at the moment that are bad for them. Tucker will eat tomatoes, apples, watermellon, peaches pears, pineapple, beans, peppers, etc. I want to try a lemon but the wife won't let me. If I ever get the chance, I will have to take pictures.
Shiloh is about 10 pounds overweight. I'll have to try the green beans. He is on Beneful now but I think I should find another kind of food.

Our beagle was on Beneful also. It was a huge difference, getting rid of the gas, by putting the dog on Purina One. We use about 1/3 of a can of cheap green beans (cold) along with the juice.
I buy big bags of frozen green beans at Costco. I put the amount I need in a little water in the microwave and steam them. Then I drain them and let them cool, or if Maggie is bouncing around to be fed I rinse them in cold water.

Great idea about the frozen beans! We are convinced that the green beans are responsible for the new life in our pup. We can see that her weight is coming off. As a treat, a couple of times a week we chop up small amounts of lean chicken or beef and toss it out in the yard to let her do some sniffing for her treat.
