A few days ago we considered adopting Tasha and I posted her picture for you guys. I asked for some more recent pictures and realized that she is much bigger than I had anticipated. We really wanted a dog about Squeegee's size so we wanted to keep looking.
We decided to go by the shelter tonight and see if any hound dogs needed a home. We saw a couple sweet, happy looking ones. Then we saw a shy, scared Beagle mix shaking and curled in a ball in her cell. Well, of course we went in to see her and she was so scared that she was huddling in the corner trying to hide her face. We just sat with her for a while giving her treats which she was too scared to eat from our hands. Poor little thing. We spent about an hour with her during which time she warmed up enough to stop shaking and take a few treats from our hand. She still wont come to you but made a little progress.
She is a pretty girl who was found on the side of the road and is about 6 months old. We really couldn't just leave her there so we put down our deposit on her tonight. They always spay/neuter their dogs before releasing them so she will be spayed tomorrow and we will pick her up on Saturday.
I know she has a long way to go and we may have some challenges. Hopefully a loving home with a playmate will help her come out of her shell. Can't wait to get her home! We havent decided on a name yet. I'll post pics soon.
