WAR!!! (of the fleas)--I'm Winning!

After finding fleas on all three of my beags, I have declared war on the little buggers in my house. Every stitch of their bed linens has been washed in hot water, beds scubbed with bleach, carpets, floors, and furniture vacuumed, all three dogs bathed, floors scubbed with hot water and bleach. Basically if it didn't move, it got scrubbed, washed, or vacuumed. Tomorrow I'm buying some more Frontline to spray them down with. In the meantime, I'm cooking down some lemons to make a citrus spray repellant, and I fed them some Garlic with dinner which is also supposed to repel fleas. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif Whew!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

The weather here has been so hot & humid having the same problem. I found at WalMart they sell stuff to spread on your yard that will control ticks, fleas,etc. You just use a spreader and spread it just like you would fertilizer and it seems to be helping. Unless you get rid of those in your yard all that inside work is going to help litte.

It took bathing her in vinegar at 11pm at night to get the little suckers off just to hold her over until we got flea bath. I also washed all of her stuff in detergent and vinegar. The number of fleas that came off in the vinegar bath water was astounding! I never would have thought vinegar would kill fleas if I hadn't seen it myself.

Béla ran to the store first thing the next morning and got special spray for the rugs and flea bath. What I don't understand is why they were on here since she's treated once a month.

At any rate...it was a battle but we won!

Treating her once a month will work fine but if you don't do thr outside(where most fleas come from)you are spinning your wheels. Remember beagls in their playing love to roll & tumble in the grass and that is were most of your fleas are.

Frontline seems to do the trick for Shiloh ! I use the Frontline Plus drops on him. You ,also,just use them once a month with a direct to their skin applacation. Seems to work pretty good . I have checked him every night and haven't seen any fleas. From what I have read fleas like hot & real humid places and our weather has been perfect for them.
