Having very recently taken Sally to the vet for her annual checkup, booster shots and nail trim, I got to wondering how your beags take to a visit to the veterinarian.
Sally hates it. Ordinarily, she puts up a struggle when we reach the front door of the clinic. One year, she strained at the leash so hard, she slipped out of her collar and took off at a dead run. It was a scary few minutes as the vet clinic is located along a very bush highway.
Once I get her inside the first set of doors, she kind of resignes herself to the ordeal ahead.
Sally hates the scale (I don't know why it bothers her, all she has to do is step on a large platform only an inch off the floor). She trembles terribly on the examining table and I have to hold her to keep her from leaping off. All the while, she buries her face in my arm.
It can't be that bad, can it? I'm sure a trip to the vet traumatizes her for a short period. The doctor is gentle, pets and talks to her, but she just wants OUT of the examining room via the quickest egress available.
How to your beags react when it's time to see the doctor?
