Well the cortisone shot didn't last too long. I just left him in the vet for some blood work and x rays. When I went home for lunch he yelped when I tried getting him out the crate and he is in slow motion like takes him a long time to get out of the crate. He's eating great, pooping regularly so I'm just baffled. He was shaking a little on the way to the vet. It's so weird, even going outside and not picking up leaves and wood sticks like he used to, or chewing or playing w/ his toys. I will find out in a few hours.

Uh oh. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/alien1.gif Poor Marco and poor you. I hope that your vet can figure out what is wrong. If not, please try another vet for a second opinion. It's so hard when our fur babies just aren't feeling right. I hope it's nothing too serious. Keep us posted!

Poor baby. Please take jen-n-jersey's advise on getting a second opinion. I will be checking throughout the day for any updates.

After the issue I had with Cassie and their last vet (total misdiagnosed the swelling from her paw infection as bone cancer and made her suffer 4 extra days for surgery....which is why he is a former vet), I will always ask for a second opinion if things don't sound right.

Like others said before, you know your pup better than anybody. I seriously hope they can find some answers and take action to make your little guy all better. It's so hard to see them when they aren't feeling well and you just want that hyper little puppy back. Hope Marco gets back to his normal self soon. Give him a puppy lick from Duke and me.

I just talked to the vet. The blood test came out very good, although he is on the anemic side but he says that's very common for puppies. He gave him an oral dewormer because he still has hookworms (might be making him weak and a lil anemic??)so it might be a combination of that and a shot reaction and to give it time for the cortisone to take full effect. Thanks for your replies guys, I just have to wait and see!

Thanks for update. I don't know much about hookworm but I'm guessing that any worms are gonna make you feel bad...right!! Aww bless him. Hope he gets better soon.

Gentle hugs sent to Marco! Let's hope that the de-worming does the trick. I will also chime in with the "second opinion" folks -- if you have any doubts at all, you can also get a referral from your vet to see an internal medicine specialist. All respectable vets have no problem with referrals.

Wait and see, two words I hate to hear....I am a very impatient mother. I wish these little guys came with little screens on their foreheads so we could read what was wrong, besides the sadness in their eyes. I will definitely scream "Second Opinion" for anyone with pets....our furbaby Chip was diagnosed with Addison's two years ago, turns out he had heat stroke. But we put that poor boy through so much in two weeks just finding out....another vet, found it out right away. We do it for ourselves and our human kids, why not our pets?

Keep Marco well, and we'll say some prayers here for him and you.
