So our little Bianca let out her first bay today at the vacuum cleaner.

She normally runs around it and barks at it with her cute little bark, but when I turned it off...she let out a loud bay at its direction. Now this is her first bay that she has ever let out. And it sure was cute, but hopefully it'll stay on the minimum :D

Any words of advice here? I know one thing would probably be to not encourage it, which would mean to not react when she does it. Let me know what you guys think :)

This is just my opinion, so if it's not worth what you want, skip it. But it's been my experience after three beagles, that stopping them from baying, which is what beagles do, is like asking them not to wag their tails. Beagles bay, howl or whatever you want to call that adorable noise that comes from their mouths. I know there is a way to stop them from doing it constantly, but the only way that has been suggested to us has been a shock collar and I won't do that.

Good luck....
I'm not going to use a shock collar. And my intentions aren't to completely STOP her from doing it. Just asking some advice from other beagle owners on ways to avoid a potential problem.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you see her baying constantly. Usually they will not bay without reason. Our guys bay if someone is outside approaching the house or at those little troublemaker squirrels in the front yard.

With 3 beagles in the house we do not have a baying problem. So, enjoy it when she does and pay attention when she does bay to see what the cause is :)
Great advice Roscole, thanks.

Cobismom, just simply curious on the baying and if others have experience on how to avoid it escalating into a problem. From what Roscole said, good advice was given on noticing the cause. In this case its the vacuum cleaner so I have nothing to worry about. :)

Roscole, at what age did yours start to get riled up when people approach the house? Our 6 month old Bianca is a quiet one with the only peeps out of her come out when the vacuum turns on :)
