Today Marc was at the local supermarket getting the fixin's for Moosie's birthday BBQ tonight (since I'm stuck at work). He took Popcorn and Moose and incorporated it into a bit of a walk. There is also a bike race in our neighbourhood today so he took Popcorn along to hopefully get her used to the noises and commotion.

All in all he was probably in the store for 15 minutes - with the dogs tied up out front of the store for that time. Moose and Popcorn are not angels, but are certainly better in that situation that Booker, which is why she wasn't included in the trip - one time I came out and someone had actually called the police over she had been making such a racket!

When he came out, this couple came over to him and told him the dogs had RUINED their lunch. The supermarket sells ready-made food that you can eat in front of the store on little tables - so it isn't the quietest of locations in the first place, especially today when there is a jazz festival in the neighbourhood as well as the bike race. But apparently Booker and Moose were SOOOOO noisy they must have drowned out the other crowds. And apparently not thinking that this was enough criticism just in itself, they then had to launch into a tirade against Marc saying that they were going to call the SPCA because the dogs were too thin (strange, the vet thinks they both need to lose weight..) and are obviously mistreated, etc.

Boy some people are touchy.

Sorry about the unpleasantness at the supermarket, but I hope Moose had a great birthday bbq anyway.

Some people are intolerant. When we first got Susi and Snoopy they would cause a fuss in the village if another dog came near. One couple told us our dogs were mentally sick and should be put down. We were so livid Dave gave them a lecture on how our two had been kept for 5 years to help people like them. They went away a bit sheepish. We dont go into the village very often with our two to avoid scenes like this.

Mako, I've always hoped that in a situation like that, say if I was out walking Shiloh and I had to make an emergency trip into a Dunkin Donuts or something :eyes: Shiloh would make a fuss if someone came along and tried to take her. But I wouldn't want to try it--my luck the dognapper would have a donut and Shiloh would follow him anywhere!
Gingergoose, I too would be delighted if someone parked their dog near me. I'm such a nut when there are dogs around. This weekend, my kids and I went on a little mini-vacation, to Bar Harbor Maine, and lots of people had their dogs with them-- from huskies to chihuahuas.I enjoyed so much going around and meeting people's dogs. Even saw one beagle, but he/she was too far away to visit.

Some people are just Anti-dog or were born with a big grumpy gene.

We tied one of our dogs outside a gift shop in a big tourist location, a coach pulled up outside and aload of French kids got off and made a bee-line for our dog and stroked her. The dog was by the entrance and the shopkeeper complained that he was losing business as no-one could get past the crowd stroking our dog. Because he moaned we made sure we took our time and eventually left without buying anything /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif The dog really enjoyed all the attention though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
