Too Quiet Beagle

Our Sadie is almost 16 months old. She is still very quiet.
We can coax a little “Buff!” out of her if she thinks there’s someone at the door.
If she gets really excited, maybe a single, honest bark.
The most I’ve ever heard from her was when she was running full speed, playing with the neighbor’s Boarder Collie. It was an occasional, high pitched “yip” that almost sounded ( If I didn’t know better.) like she was in pain. Oh, and she’ll growl if you play tug-a-war with her.
My wife thinks I’m crazy, but we spent a little time at Beagle Palooza, and I kinda liked all of the Arrrooooing. I wish Sadie would express herself that way. (Once in a while.)
“Be happy she doesn’t!” I’m told. :nono5:

Our first Beagle Sam was fairly quiet except when we came home from work and if he saw anyone out the front window.

Now these 2. Sadie is very, very verbal. When Sadie and Pooh were little they wrastled a lot. There was a lot of play growling during the wrestling matches. We thought at first it was both of them growling. We finally realized it was all Sadie. They get on scent trails in the back yard and Sadie yips and yowls a lot. Pooh Bear will join in with his deeper voiced Arooo only if a very recent hot trail. She has started to bark when she wants out and barks or whines when she wants to eat. She will also bark or whine at Pooh Bear if he is in her place on the couch until he jumps down and gives in to her.

So consider yourself lucky. She may still become more verbal as she gets older.
