An aunt gave us a huge piece of roast pork (the Chinese style, very crispy and very, very delicious!) in a plastic bag to cut up and stir-fry with Chinese kale for dinner. I saw mom put it on the dining table before I went out to the kitchen at the back to wash some veggies. Then I heard rustling sounds like someone was opening the plastic bag. I called out, "Mom?" No answer. More rustles... (Louder)"Mom, is that you?" I heard my mom answering from a distant, like from a room upstairs. Now, those rustling sounds were so near... Uh, oh.. Not good, not good.. I dropped all the veggies back into the bowl and ran into the house and into the dining room just in time to see the little thief running off with that huge chunk of roast pork in his mouth. And he was crunching on it while running away into his hiding place behind the sofa. Boy, was he quick!!!

Mom came down from upstairs and said she forgot to put the pork in the fridge. I said there was no need now that the whole thing just disappeared inside the culprit's tummy. The most maddening thing was that he came out of his hiding spot licking his lips and bits of pork still clung to his nose and cheeks :angryfire:

We went out for a while on sunday and left Bonnie at home alone.

She somehow found a way into a room where there was a cake cooling on the table. When we got home there was half a cake and one hyper 9yo beagle.

The only reason there was half a cake left was that her little legs were not long enough to reach the middle of the table to eat the rest.

I'm sorry, but it is too funny. They are all little devils in all sort of ways.
Roast pork, I know exactly what it is and deliciously familiar. Boeing even agrees!?
Watch out, it might be too rich for him.

:nono5: Charlie!!! I must impress the importance of keeping pantry doors closed here, also!! My three got into the pantry when the door was accidentally left open with a full 17lb bag of food. When I got home all that was left was about four pounds of food and some VERY full guilty-looking beags!

FYI, the only punishment Boeing got was no more snacks the rest of the day.

BTW, Taurus Mom, it's good to know little 'Dottie' Polly also steals. Sorry about your loss of a yummy egg sandwich to the little thief, though :hi:

I think many if not most of us must have stories of our little beagle food thieves. My latest is not so much a theft as an assault and robbery. You'd think after 10 years I would have learned my lesson, but last sunday I was eating a roll and watching the Oscars. Something (I think it was the people who made shapes behind the screed) caught my attention and I absentent-mindedly lowered my hand while I was watching. :nono5: You can imagine what happened!! Problem is, when she grabbed the roll out of my hand, she accidentally bit my finger! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif And it still hurts!!

Did you give her the Oscar for The best grab and run by a Beagle?  Besides if she was not meant to have it, you would not have waved it in front of her nose. :woohoo:
