Hey everyone I am Shana and I am originally from New York hence the name Bagel the beagle. I adopted my beagle from a breeder on Va where I currently live who was not so nice when we picked her up 2 weeks ago she smelled like a car. I started doing some research to find out Bagel had mange. We do have a vet apt coming on the 21st in the mean time I have been using happy jack shampoo, apparently folks in south use motor oil to suffocate the mites not realizing the toxics in that. She also had a upper respiratory infection to which she has finally over came. She is very Playful and happy. She does bite according to breeder was born on July 6th anddoes bite a lot. She has lost some of her hair trying to find a good way to help with getting it all back.馃ク馃惗 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very adorable..you've come to the right place for advice. I hope you remain on the forum..we're just ordinary people with beagles who are taking the time to post advice... that said...Im a puppy survivor.
Good that your dog will be checked by a vet..the sooner the better.
The biting/nipping is not aggression...its what puppies do. Do a word search on this forum for biting, nipping.. i have posted a lot on this topic fairly recently.
Do crate train..you will be happy your dog learns to love it. My dog is now 10.8 yrs old and goes to her crate to sleep on her own.
Keep your dog in a restricted area so your dog doesnt potty in wrong places.
Beagles are not off leash dogs and will run away given the opportunity..hopefully you have a fenced area.
Keep us posted..loved the pictures

Welcome to Beagle World. She is so cute!

Food choices can help a lot with fur growth and smelliness. We adopted a shelter beagle that had gross, oily fur, itchy skin and smell. They had her on Science Diet and we switched her to Fromm. She stopped smelling and her coat became gorgeous. I haven't had a puppy in 20 years so I'll let the puppy folks help with your questions. We love puppy pictures here!
