I just got an update on the lemon beagle that had been dropped off at my friend Joanie's vet. Some of you very generously donated to her medical expenses. Joanie would take her (but she's already 3 dogs OVER her limit) - and she has donated a lot toward her vet bills. She wants to thank everyone who sent in donations -- here's her update!

She is doing so good!!!
She insists on going outside to potty so they carry her out set her down & when she's done they pick her back up & carry her in. She is still not allowed to walk around, because of her pelvis. But it seems to be healing okay & thank goodness looks like she won't have to have that surgery.
They have started the Heartworm Treatments, she'll get her next one next month. I don't know how many is on her schedule I know Miss Brownie got 6 of them. (@ approx $200 a treatment, they are expensive. They can only do them once a month) She did really well with this first one, didn't get sick @ all!! With Heartworm treatments they are not allowed to run, jump or play. Any jolt will cause them to break up & travel through the blood stream, & they can cause a deadly heart attack.
Dr Tressler said to tell everyone thank you for their prayers & good thoughts for Miss Lemon Beagle & also to those who sent in donations for her, the Clinic will be sending out Thank Yous & also a new pic of Miss Lemon Beagle.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts & everything!
I'll give more updates as soon as there are some.
Oh and Liz, Dr Tressler just had to show Miss Lemon your donation & envelope that she got from you. She told her Looks like you have a friend clear across the Ocean, too. She said Miss Lemon just smelled of it & then she laid back down. Dr Tressler though that was so sweet that someone that didn't even live in the USA really cared. She thought everyone was really kind & sweet.
Hugs, Joanie

The Liz she refers to is a member of Beagle Bay who just happens to live in England, she's a widow who works in a nursing home. How kind is THAT!!!

I can't afford to send a lot, but am scheduling small payments every payday for a few months - as those treatments are expensive.

Thank you all for your support and prayers.

This dog is in Oklahoma - I just posted the update because several members here have sent donations to the vet to help with her expenses.

Glenda-
Where is OK is the beagle? I will be in OK the end of Nov. and if she's ready to go then, I would adopt her. If you could e-mail me and tell me about her expenses, I also might be able to afford the expenses from here on out. I would need to know if she can be cleared to live in a puppy (well the pup will be going on 10 months by the end of nov. but she's still playful). If you can give me specifics, that would be great...

Chantel, the dog was taken into my friend Joanie's vet, supposedly had been hit by a car. I don't have the specifics but if you don't mind, I'll send your address to Joanie who can give you more information. Joanie had posted about her on Beagle Bay (she would have taken her, but she's already 3 OVER her limit). I cross posted here. Several people have sent donations to help with her expenses, but I have no idea how much or how many. I think her pelvis was broken and they thought she might have to have surgery, but after seeing a specialist they decided she would probably heal without surgery - she also has heartworms, she's had her first treatment, and Joanie doesn't know how many others she'll need. She's a pretty girl - and has had a difficult life - they think she may have been a puppy mill breeder. At any rate, I'll forward your post to Joanie and she can contact you!

I've been in touch with Joanie and Chantel - and we've given Chantel the information about the vet - so she can contact them directly. Hopefully this will work out well for this little lady who has had a rough life. We can't save them all, but we can each do our little bit to help when we can.
Chantel, please keep us updated.

Good luck Chantel. I know you've been looking for a while. Maybe this little beagle is the one that was meant for you.

Good luck!! We fostered Rocky before adopting him because he had heartworms. Fortunately the shelter covered the cost, but trying to keep him quiet was a chore!
It was worth it though. He's now healthy, happy, and heartworm free!

Any word from the vet, Chantel? Joanie asked if you'd heard from her.

No word yet, Glenda. I've been watching my e-mail closely. Can you ask Joanie to ask the vet? Just in case the e-mail got sent through my spam blocker or something?

Joanie had already planned to contact the vet Monday morning if you hadn't heard from her. Things do get lost in cyberspace - I know that I always delete things that go into my junk mail - if they're from someone I don't know. Joanie DID tell them to expect to hear from you though. The vet doesn't work every day - and I think she's due back in the office on Monday - so it might be a good idea to send her a reminder -- just in case! We're all keeping fingers, toes, and paws crossed here.
