Maggie did that to me once when we were playing with a ball. We both reached for it at the same time. When I yelled ouch she backed off and then followed me around while I cleaned my finger. It does hurt.
Sometimes when Maggie is tired she seems to get overexcited and has a hard time quitting what she is doing no matter how firm I am. When she is like that I have better luck distracting her with a toy or taking her outside for a few minutes, just to break the pattern of the action I don't want happening.
