Summer at the Emergency Vet

Well, I have been trying to get Summer to the vet for the last few days (possible UTI), but due to a lack of vets (one left for a position at Johns Hopkins) and the others on vacation, they have been booked solid. To make matters worse, I got my days mixed and we missed Summer's appointment on Monday. I thought is was last night.

This morning she was in pain, a lot of pain. When I picked her up she screamed. So I ran her to the E-vet that is 5 minutes away. Its not a UTI. They think its her back, possible disk issue. Here we go again. The good news is that she shows no signs of paralysis and still has deep pain. The neurologist will call once he has a chance to evaluate her and do imaging (x-rays, myleogram, etc.)

I'll update you when I know more.

Poor Summer! I'm so sorry she's not doing well. I hope her surgery goes nice and smooth and she's feeling better soon. Give her my love! And some extra Beagle belly rubs.
oh no ...... sending out good thoughts for Summer and you and Fran too !!

rest up sweet girl and get well soon !!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you for a Summer's successful surgery and speedy recovery. Belly rubs for Murphy, too, while he waits for his sister to come home!
Poor thing... I'm sure all will go well and she will be home soon, recover quickly (they tend to do that - amazing) and be happy beagle again
Aw,"Fudge" MD! You have had a lot of "hard-luck" with your beags! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif I pray that they will recover & adopt the "stong constitution" that beags are famous for! "Most adoped beags beat the odd's" & live a normal/expected life...As Pop & I have experience with! But with Goober being my first beag as a pup & raised in an area with very few canine diseases... Goober might give the current record holder a good run for a non newtered male beag! Snapper & Duke were adopted from the pound/shelter & spent 13 yrs with us...but, Rufus & Nibbler were rescued from "problem-homes" when they were 1 yr old...So, We shall have to see how this plays out!
Even though Rufus is less than half Goobers "elder weight" & size, and 5 yrs younger...he has had more "elder dog problems" than Goober so far! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
