Went to the vet for our every other month ear check and they weighed everybody. Keeping in mind that these three HATE to stand on the rubber mat to get weighed and usually hug the wall, all their weights were up by five pounds over last time. Grrr. I knew Boomer was looking a little chunkier but he is stockier than the other two. No excuse though, too many goodies. We are also changing dog foods - again. They were on regular Candidae, but then the Lab was having some allergy issues so we changed to Candidae Lamb and Rice. Then I found out that Candidae was sold to the company that makes Kirkland that we had problems with before. So I switched to Taste of the Wild. Now the ear problems are starting to resurface so on the advice of the vet and a good friend with bassets we are transitioning to Natural Balance Duck and Potato.

I have been having a issue with two of the beagles looking at their meal and walking away - so unbeagly. The duck and potato seems to be peaking their interest.

I need to go out and get some baby carrots for them. Any other veggie favorites?

My vet has suggested cutting down on the kibble and mixing in some green beans with Shiloh's food. He said it will add bulk so that she will feel full. She just eats around the green beans!! Same with carrots. She's just not a vegetable fan. But Iams makes reduced calorie dog biscuits that she seems to enjoy. (They're very small, which probably is what makes them low calorie! LOL) Maybe your crew will like the green beans, though.

When Willow got a pit podgy we put her on the cabbage diet. She lost the extra pounds fairly quickly. watch out for the side effects though. PHEW!!!
