My grandfather's GSD Shakira passed yesterday of complications from a spay. My grandfather is heartbroken, and hasn't eaten in a week (since shakira had a second, corrective surgery) She was a very good dog. Four years young, a wonderful mother, herding dog, farm dog, guard dog, baby sitter, grand kid herder, and my grandfather's constant shadow. She will be deeply missed by the entire family.

So sorry to hear of your granfather's loss.
I've never had children, only dogs.
I've lost 2 of my dear babies in 3 years.
They are like children. Some days the only thing that gets me thru is knowing that I'll see them again.

thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. He's starting to get back into the normal swing of things, my grandfather just loves all his animals alot, and it hit him pretty hard, we're debating getting him a pup, i know its soon but...its a farm and they do need a dog to help herd etc, not sure how to be tactful about it tho...
