Here's the 2nd place story that Sarah had in the paper. I havent figured out how to add the picture yet so will have to do that later. The picture shows Sarah with her eye patch holding Copper. They judged the story based on Appealability.
My Best Friend Copper, by Sarah H. age 8
Copper, my beagle, and I have a lot of fun together. Before I got Copper I was really sad. Some people made fun of me at school because of my eye patch and glasses. Then one night my mom took us to go look at Copper. We liked him so my mom asked me and my brother Sam to do all the work for him. Sam and I promised. Then be bought him. After a while with a little practice we taught him to do all kinds of stuff. One time he even did a back flip off the couch on accident! Once when we were done eating, we let Copper out of his crate and he did the most funny thing! He let his hind legs drag and he pulled himself along by his front legs. Then he got up and started jumping around, then started rolling around the carpet. Later he went to his crate and fell asleep while chewing on one of his toys. Copper is my best friend because he likes me for who I am.
