Well, I may not give many more updates on Miss Sadie. She is doing very well. I am still giving her the Rimadly (anti-inflammatory). I need to try dropping it off but I'm chicken that she will get stiff again.

I gave Sadie and Pooh Bear baths today. I was apprensive about giving Sadie a bath. I didn't want to hurt her. But they have both been itching so much lately and haven't had a bath in a long time. I was very careful and she did just fine. So we have very clean Beagles to sleep with tonight!!

Yeah Sadie. I'm so happy to hear that you're doing much better! Momof2, you may want to talk to your vet about alternatives to Rimadyl. I've heard bad things about long term use. With Amber we started using glucosamine and chondroitin supplements to keeps her joints limber. I know that Judy uses a different anti-inflamatory for Maggie as well and it is supposed to have fewer side effects from long term use.

I give Maggie Cosequin (which is a glucoasmine/chondroitin combo) which I get from her vet. He is switching to Dasuquin (which has some added ingredients) -- made by same company, Nutramax. As I am writing this, isn't Nutramax the company that started this whole food recall mess??? Before we started her on the daily Cosequin, she had a series of Adequan injections. They worked really well but she had a different problem -- arthritis in her back legs. I also give Maggie Deramaxx on an as needed basis when the arthritis flares up. Glad Sadie is doing so well!

yeah sadie! im not up on all the meds for dogs.
i would think that long term use of any med would have its side effects. just be careful and talk with your vet about this. get several opinions if you can, from different vets.vets dont always agree on things as you will see.

Thanks again guys. The vet says she can stay on it as long as she needs it and that they will do blood tests every few months to be sure all is ok.

But she is doing great. (I'll try not to say it too loudly). I am only giving her one Rimadly today. I am making myself drop her down to 1 pill a day and then hopefully after about a week I'll try dropping it off altogether.

I just ordered them some Glucosomine with Condrondrom (can't spell) from Drs Foster and Grant. The vet said to give 250 miligrams of Glucosomine a day for them. But all the suppliments I see are at least 500 mil. Anyone know for sure how much they can have of this a day. Sadie and Pooh both weigh about 38 pounds each.

thanks,
