We had to put my dear Peanut down 2 weeks ago. She was going deaf and blind, due to some parasite she had, it was very rare and we did everything we could. I miss her dearly. I have, however, been working with a friends Miniature Australian Shepherd, who is the same age as Peanut was, and my friend is moving out of the states for a study abroad program and has given Shadie to me. She thought she could leave the pup behind with her mom, but her mom isn't too keen on the idea. She says she'll just get her forever dog when she returns home (I told her to get a Beag). Anyway, Shadie is slowly meanding my heart, and because she kind of fell in my lap I will be Beagless for a while, I do hope however, that I can still post on the boards with all of you and update you all on how my little non-beagle is doing! I love still reading about all of your Beagles, as it reminds me of my crazy, sweet little Peanut!
Thanks everyone!
So glad you found a dog so soon. It helps healing a lot faster when you have a furry shoulder to cry on and cuddle. On top of that dogs know when we're sad, so while Shadie may not know exactly why you feel sad, she'll help you feel better.
Aussie, Shepherd, huh? Great! Our old dog was an Aussie cross. They're great dogs.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear little Peanut. It is so very difficult when the time comes that we have to help our wonderful friends to the Bridge, even when we know it is the right decision. Peanut knows how hard you tried to help her, and how much you loved her. She waits for you now at the Bridge, returning that love a thousandfold. I'm sure she's pleased that you have another little babe to help mend your heart. And of course you are welcome to stay at Beagle World!
Godspeed, little Peanut.
Oh gosh, you are all so wonderful! My mom knows the whole story on exactly what happened and how, but anytime we try to talk about Peanut with each other we cry, so I'm still a bit unclear on all the details besides that I spent the money at the vets (haha) and tried to comfort her!
Thanks everyone!
Of course Shadie will never replace her, but she sure does make me smile. They were friends and even Shadie missed her for a couple days.
Someone on here use to post pictures of Peanut for me, I think it was Sandy J? If I could get your e-mail again (or if it was someone else) I'll have you post some pictures of Shadie! Thank you.
