Anyone who has never loved a dog, could never understand why we put ourselves through it.
They take such a strong hold of our hearts in their too short lives. Not to mention when there are problems that cut their lives even shorter, or require us to remove them from our packs.
I know everyone here will agree… It’s because they are worth it.

I got up to let Sadie out this morning and found this email from my sister-in-law...

Quote: Hunter passed away last night. He literally just dropped dead.
I took him for his morning walk, and he pulled me all the way, and would have liked the walk to last longer.
John took him for his evening walk, it was an extra long walk, and he enjoyed every minute of it, yanking and pulling the whole walk.
Latter that night, John took him on a play date to see his best buddy (except for Conner, of course).
Hunter and Conner jumped out of the car and all four dogs ran to the grassy area as usual. Within 30 seconds, Hunter was dead. He didn’t make a sound, he just dropped dead.
We are, of course, shocked, numb and deeply saddened. We do take comfort knowing that he died doing one of his favorite things, playing with his buddies, and knowing that he had a good life for the short while he was with us. We miss him, but know that he is in doggy heaven making new friends and wagging his tail.

I would have called but I can’t think about him, let alone talk about him without crying.
Hunter was one of Sadie’s two lab “cousins”. Conner, Hunter’s brother, has cancer and has had several lumps removed recently. (Both are 4 or 5 yrs old.)
Poor Laura... These are her first dogs as an adult. (Cat person.) I hope she doesn’t give up on them.
Because… They’re worth it.

I’m gonna go hug Sadie now…

I am so very sorry. Please pass it on to your sister in law. It's hard enough to lose them when you know it's coming, but to have this happen out of the blue must be very hard. Give her an extra hug from the boys, too.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hunter.
But it definitely sounds like he was having a blast right up until the end and that he didn't suffer at all. Take comfort in that.

What an awful shock. It really makes you thankful for every day you have with your furkids.
