Our Tri color Ranger passed suddenly Wednesday evening.
He was fine all weekend but seemed a bit sluggish Tuesday evening. My wife took him to the vet Wednesday because he wasn't hungry. He is known to never miss a meal. The vet thought pancreatitis but by that evening he was worse. The vet asked about poisons but we could think of none he had access to. Ranger had a seizure and extreme pain. The vet gave him morphine and Valium to help him. His pupils wouldn't react to light and were not dilated but closed tightly. This also confused the vet. She said she didn't think he would recover as his livers numbers were off the chart 150 normal vs 4000 count. He passed peacefully asleep from the medications. He was 8 years old.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for your loss. Its so tragic when it happens suddenly and for no apparent reason. We lost a wonderful family dog recently much the same way. Sending you hugs.
