I know that we all love our beagles, but let's face it...we know that they have embarrassed us all at one point or another and have even gotten us into trouble. Below are my top two. I would love to hear any of your stories.

1. I was walking my girls at a park in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. This rather attractive guy started talking to me and asking about my dogs. Well, I started raving on what good dogs they are and how beagles are a great breed. He bent over to pet one of my girls, Bergen. About that time, she passed gas VERY loudly. Awkward silence and a nervous laugh from me followed. I don't think that he appreciated Bergen's stomach issues.

2. My beagles and I got invited to a family birthday party this summer. My family is very dog friendly and usually everyone brings their pets. The line up includes Labs, a Cocker Spaniel, a Great Pyrenees/St. Bernard mix, two Pomeranians and my two beagles. Well of course with it being a birthday, there was a birthday cake. This wasn't just any birthday cake. This was a coveted Granny Lee one-of-a-kind birthday cake. Well, everyone was outside by the pool having a grand old time. We all decided to start gathering inside for the main attraction...cutting of the cake and blowing out candles. We all ventured in to discover my beagle Lizzy sitting at a chair at the table finishing up licking ALL of the cream cheese icing off the cake. Needless to say, I gathered up my brood and got the heck out of dodge quickly. I was mortified! Lizzy is known for getting into mischief, (please see my post of her destroying a Gerber Daisy in minutes.) but she has NEVER gotten anywhere near the table to steel food. All I can figure is that she wanted a taste of what everyone had been raving about for years.

1. One time I took Booker with me to the grocery store. I was just inside for a few minutes picking up a few things and, as usually, Booker was howling the whole time - indignant that she wasn't allowed to come in with me. When I came out there were two policemen standing there with Booker... they gave me a lecture about leaving my dog outside where she was disrupting everyone.

2. We were invited to a dinner party with friends and during the course of the evening Moosie (1) ate the entire cheese tray while we were in the kitchen getting drinks and (2) at an entire stick of butter from off the counter while we were clearing the table after dinner. That was quite a few years ago and we haven't been invited back since.

3. We had new neighbours moving onto our floor... While we were saying hello and welcoming them to the building, Moosie ran into their apartment and promptly cocked his leg on the corner of their sofa.

Great thread :)

1. We had Gino for only a month or two and we brought him to the dog park for the first time (with us anyway don't know what his experieces were before). We had all 3 of them with us so we were busy keeping an eye on each of them. I was a good distance away and saw Gino approaching an older lady sitting on a chair, I kept my eye on him and began slowly walking over just to make sure all was ok. She was talking to him and pet his head then continued her conversation with another person sitting next to her. Gino sniffed her leg, and began the dreaded leg lift! I ran over yelling "GINO NO!" and got to him just in time before he marked this poor unsuspecting woman as his own! LOL
She was surprisingly unaware until I came running at her and I was so embarassed!

2. Just this Christmas Eve, we had a few of my relatives over for dinner. The night went so well and I was so proud of our boys for being perfect "hosts". Earlier my mother decided it was a good idea to give them all an entire bag of Beggin Strips (b/c its Christmas, was what she said). Well, I got over that and didn't think much of it until, when everyone was getting their coats, I heard my uncle complaining about something. I ran over and seems one of the boys had a messy accident (no doubt from the excessive treats as this is not the norm) poor uncle stepped in it! Right in the foyer! Even though we are close, I was so embarrassed!

Well she sat on the couch and scout jump up to say hi and peeped on her chest area. all i heard was oh my god!!! how rude!!!. All i could do was laugh and gather up scout and head for the basement. Please remember my sister is an all cat person and hates dogs and always looks like she just step out of a magazine.

I really don't have any embarrassed or troubling things with Charlie,
other than............. Screaming like someone is murdering him, on some of our walks *mind you as Beagle owners we know that this is not the case, He's just tracking is all,
but * passerbyers don't*
I really hate explaining, not to worry it's just a Beag he's on a scent. I really think some people don't believe me & I get the most judgmental looks arghhhh

However; Our other canine Rolo, well lets see, He has humpdeedupped a visitor, *or tried too*
Marked in other peoples homes, stores, name it he's done it cocking his leg is his favorite pastime.
wearing his doggy diaper in peoples homes now is even more embarrassing.

Thinking he knows or at least has a grasp on what Charlie is doing when we are on some of our walks, he hears charlie screaming, then Rolo goes nuts with his agressive barking trying to nip the side of Charlie, you know what this looks like, trying to controll a dog on a scent..... and.... a dog....who thinks he knows what he's doing? *trying to explain this one to passerbyers in no use!
lol lets just say good thing I have no health problems at this time *arghhhh*

lol I have never had any embarrassing moments like the above, the only thing I learnt is that a dog who is obediant when only him and his master is around, is not neccessarily obediant when many other people are around.
I would talk up all the tricks I can make him do then my family gathers and I confidently command 'Milo, Rollover'....only to have Milo run away and jump up on someones leg for a pat...yup, more training around distractions is needed!

This Christmas, as we were packing the car to get ready for an eight-hour road trip to see family, Willie decided to eat the candy canes that were tied to packages decoratively...cellophane wrappers and all. He probably ate about ten of them before he was discovered.
Flash forward eight hours to him meeting my brother and sister-in-law for the first time, as they were hosting us. Willie jumped all around, playing excitedly with their dog Cooper, who he was also meeting for the first time...then turned around and yakked about three huge piles of pink candy cane and cellophane goo all over the room.
Thankfully, he seemed to get everything out of his system and wasn't sick anymore after that, though we did monitor him closely. And, thankfully, my brother and SIL are dog people and didn't think anything of such an occurrence.
More embarrassing over the course of the week we stayed with them was the daily humpfest between him and Cooper.

Our first road trip with Willie had a mortifying occurrence...we had driven more than 1,000 miles to visit my SO's mom for Thanksgiving halfway across the country...all went well until we left him crated in the guest room for a couple of hours on the day after thanksgiving, so we could go shopping at an art fair down the street. When we came home, we found him...freely roaming the house, and having ripped up some books (all of them mine, thankfully, not SO's mom or stepdad's). We couldn't imagine how he got out of his crate. When we got to our guest room, it was a disaster. He'd rammed his collapsible crate hard enough that he'd popped the clips holding the ends to the sides, and climbed out. Then, he couldn't push open either door to the room, like he can in our bedroom at home, because they pull open instead of push. So he clawed ALL the paint/finish off both doors from knob to floor...there were paint chips and wood bits EVERYwhere. He must have finally worked the doors frantically enough that he managed to pull one open by hooking a paw underneath, because he did get out into the rest of the house. I was MORTIFIED. They live in a vintage craftsman home, very nicely restored, and here our dog had clawed big grooves into two of their doors and necessitated sanding down and repainting. SO's mom and stepdad were VERY nice about it, but we were absolutely mortified. We'd only had him for about a month and a half at the time, and he's never done anything like that before or since.

The only embarressing thing I think that Cassidy has done...was when the Mary Kay lady came over and was showing me makeup, and Cassidy farted a silent but deadly, we had to go outside for a moment to recoop...I was laughing so hard because I was so embarressed....

Nubi on the other hand likes to goose people. It was first day of training and Nubi went right up to the trainer and goosed her...hard...that was embarressing...lol I am like..ugh why do dogs do that...lol

Funny stories!!

My first beagle Benny was with us when we were helping our friends move into a new house. We were all busy with boxes etc and someone said "where is Benny??". My friend went upstairs to look for him in the dark because no lamps were hooked up yet. She called down "something really smells up here". I got a flashlight and went up there.....Benny had diarrhea ALL over their upstairs carpets and then my friend had walked thru it in the dark!! Needless to say, hubby and I spent many hours shampooing thier rugs!

The most embarrassing occurred about a month ago and continues. We took Kunu to our regular dog park and he's doing his usually sniffing around everywhere and marking everything. Well, on this day, that everywhere included a guy's leg as he sat on a bench. Mortified, we apologized, shocked that our little beagleman actually peed on someone. The guy was really cool about it, said he had to change his pants anyway. That's just the start of the embarrassment. Now every time we are in the DP with this man, Kunu continually goes near him and the poor man just braces and squirms, thinking he's going to get peed on again. LOL
