Does anyone know of a resource I check out on discipling our Josie. She is an all around good girl - just a few issues. Climbing on the dining room table if anything smells interesting is the biggest thing. I was watching Dog whisperer and he was saying how dogs don't get the whole time out thing and I was reading on another thread how dogs don't quite get human emotions so what can I do?

If your issue is the the dining room table, you can try using a spray bottle. Spray directly in the direction of Josie's nose whenever she misbehaves. I used a small breath mint spray, that I could carry with me easily, and after the 2nd time, Chloe just saw it, and took a step back from the table.
It also helps with nipping and any other undesired behavior.

I'm a firm believer in squirt bottles. Here it's called the bad dog gun!
It doesn't hurt them (some people put lemon juice in the water, but I just use plain water - don't want anything getting in their eyes) - I keep a couple handy - one upstairs and one downstairs, so I can nip undesirable behaviour in the bud. The good thing is since you don't have to be NEAR the dog for it to work, they don't really associate YOU with the water - it's the bottle they respect - and believe me they DO respect that squirt bottle. Some people get good results with a coke can filled with coins and shaken to distract them from unwanted behaviour. I do think whoever had Tanna before I got him, used something in the squirt bottle. The first time he saw one here, he cowered - you just want it to stop the behaviour - not to scare them to death!

We've used the squirt bottle technique also...and it does work for Cobi, he hates water of any kind, except to drink. When we leave the house, we make sure that our chairs at the table are slanted so that he doesn't decide to check out the empty table and fall of and hurt himself. Try the water squirt, it can't hurt her.
