My pup Tucker is 4 and a half months old. He is becoming not interested eating all 3 of his meals. When should I start feeding him twice a day. He is 20lbs right now. Should I keep doing what I am doing and wait to feed him twice a day once he is 6 months?

I am certain others with young pups will chime in but my immediate thoughts are that there is no right or wrong -- you should use Tucker as your guide. If he is a good weight for his size, then you would want to continue to feed the same amount of food, whether 2 or 3 times a day. You could always hold back some of his food to use as daily training rewards.

Sounds like hes growing quickly.

If he is 4 1/2months old and 20lbs, I would feed only twice a day. Feed the same amount as you do know, but see if he is more or less hungry and adjust from there.

I agree. Murphy only did 3 meals a day until around 12 weeks, then he decided it was time for only 2. He's been at 2 (morning and evening) ever since.

He's definitely ready for twice a day feedings. At that age we were probably giving Bodie 2 cups in the am and pm. We then cut it down to a cup-in-a-half twice a day. Now, he gets one cup in the am and pm. I haven't weighted him in a while, but I'd say he's between 32 - 35 lbs. His weight seems pretty consistent without a lot of fluctuation.

Our vet told us to let the dog decide, as long as they are getting the right portion(s) of food for the day they will be fine!
