so as i said in my intro post we are thinking about getting a pair of beagles, my first question will be can they both share one crate or does each one need there own crate? i would like to get the crate before hand and have it ready. how big a crate will they need, i am sure as puppies it does not need to be very big, once they are older i will get a bigger one, but then can they both share a crate at that point so that they are together.

I have separate crates for my two youngest, but they do usually share one. They are NOT littermates, one will be 2 in May and the other will be 1 in April, they're half sisters (same dad, different moms), but are almost inseperable and like to sleep together. When Joe and Jack were pups (littermates), they did share a crate, tho now they're not crated at all. I think they'll probably cry less if you have them together.

Can I suggest rescuing two beagles in need, or are puppies preferred?

Also in your into you asked about what genders would be best for a pair. Assuming they will both be neutered, it shouldn't make much difference. Keep in mind, males do tend to mark their territory.

I'll leave the crate stuff up to the experts...

Oh, it's too bad you're not down here in the South. There's an over abundance of beagles looking for homes. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

That's a great list, Joe.

I didn't see Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue...or did I miss it? There was one banner that was a picture of a beagle but no group name on it.

What about the Canadian Beagle Rescue, can it be added to that list as well (or did I just miss it?)?

Here is a link to a list of beagles in shelters near Willow Street, PA (I assume that is where you are since that is what your profile says). I am not sure if any of these are near you but there are some really young ones listed.
