Has anyone ever gotten a puppy and had the puppy living with other dogs and then taken the puppy to another living space where it was the only dog? My beagle currently lives with 2 other dogs who she loves dearly, but at the end of the summer her and I head back to college, and she'll be the only dog during the week, and she'll see her buds on the weekends. Will this be a problem?

I'm worried, but I want her with me, and I'm not sure getting another dog is the answer, and my roommate is allergic to cats. I had not thought about this when I got the pup!

I will be in and out of the house everyday because of my class schedule and usually home every evening, unless we go out or something. I'll probably let her have the kitchen to herself (she is crate trained though) and make sure I do come home every 2-3 hours for potty breaks.

She is a people-loving dog, but I am a bit concerned. Any tips/words of encouragement?
Thanks!

It's true that beagles are pack animals (like most dogs) and they love to be surrounded by other dogs. But also love to be surrounded by the people they love and that would be you I guess
.
I don't see a problem with this actually. Anyway, she will see her pals on the weekend. Im pretty sure she'll get used to it.
There's no need for concern.

The same thing is going to happen with Banjo at the end of the summer. He currently spends all of his time with my parent's JRT and my GF's corgi. Once we move he's going to be the only dog.

Great, thanks everyone, I feel better! Haha. Yeah, 2-3 hours and I can usually come home inbetween classes for at least 15 min. usually closer to 45 min. And sometimes we go out at night or something, but not often and not usually more than a couple hours, so she should be fine!

I hope Banjo does well too when he becomes the only beag!
