I have another question....
Rocky is 7 weeks...he's toilet training obviously...at what time of night did you/do you cut off the water supply so your dog can make it through the night?

We used to pick the water up around 7-8pm.

It really depends on what time his last call for potty is. I would say two hours before bed time is a good time to cut off water. As a puppy though, Rocky probably won't make it through the night. The general rule is that a pup can hold it for their age in months plus 1. So Rocky in theory, can hold it for 3 hours at a time. With Jersey we would get up once, sometimes twice, during the course of the night. That lasted until she was about 6-7 months old. Even now, she sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night to go out.

I think we cut off Bodie's water intake between 6-7 pm when he was real young. Even now we won't let him have anymore water after his last potty break (9-10 pm) before bed.

We get to sleep pretty early around here (we get up insanely early) so I stop the water at around 6 or 7 pm.

So far I have figured that with him having his last out about 11, he then really yaps sometime between 4:30 and 5:30, and he gets taken out...crate is dry. But, the water had been cut off between 8:30-9. We've tried cutting it off a little earlier tonight, since this morning he didn't make it.

I didn't limit Maggie's water. She was really good about sleeping all night from early on. She did wake up early though, usually by 6 but that was Ok as I am usually up before then.

That's how we've been with Murphy. We usually go to bed around 9:30, and for the first 4 months or so he'd wake us up around 3:00 to urinate. But since then he's been good all night-but we are usually up at 5:00. We never really limited his water or cut him off at a certain time.

If we sleep in till 5:30 on a weekend he's still good.

I've never removed their water, but then I get up 3-4 times a night myself so I just always took the pups out when I get up to potty.

8:00 PM they go outside and are allowed their last drink of the night. They go out again at 10:00PM and then straight to bed.
