Hello, my beagle is 16 years old and is needing to go potty more and more often now. I’m trying to consider what my options are right now. I live alone and work full time away from home. She is my first dog ever, had her since she was a puppy, so this is my first time dealing with a senior dog. I was thinking of getting a dog door at first, but now I’m wondering if it’s really worth it. She’s getting pretty weak and in fact, my vet guesses that she won’t survive the winter :( But maybe my vet is wrong and she will live another four years? Does anyone have advice for me?

16 is pretty old for a beagle, around 15 they tend to show their age more quickly. It's a quality of life thing for you both too. Is she still eating well, going for walks etc.?

Since she's already a senior and wants a potty indoors, you can make your own doggie litter box with a large, shallow plastic storage bin. Let's hope that the vet is wrong. Lots of love from my pups to your senior dog.
