Has anyone has issues with their beagles paws where it seems like the skin on the pad is peeling/flaking off? Bella has been working hard on licking her back paw, and we looked at it. It seemed sensitive to the touch to her, and it looks like what you would see after you have a blister and the skin has worn off. It's too late to call my vet till tomorrow, and it is about a 1 1/2 hour drive to get there, so I am wondering if anyone here has seen an issue like this and if there are any home remedies I can do to make it heal faster and make her more comfortable. She is not limping, and seems like she is fine to walk on grass, carpet, asphalt, cement... Like she is normal. She just won't stop licking at it.

Cobi does this with both front paws. You can put cortisone creme on it, per my vet, but then realize that it doesn't have an acky taste to it, so the dog may lick it off. The point is to keep it dry, no licking, and possibly socks or boots at night. We've also tried peroxide to dry it up, and that won't hurt them in the quantity you are going to use. DH bought some rubbing alcohol and sprayed it on the top of the paws so that he won't like anywhere...it's a habit, rather like a pacifier or out of nerves or boredom. Just have to make sure that it stays dry and clean...till you want to check with your vet. Can you do a phone consultation and send him/her the same pic?
