for a few days now diesel wont stand on his hind leg. he runs and walks with a tiny limp but its not affecting him much. i dont know what it is... i can touch his leg, paw, knee, all that and nothing. he wont wimper or flinch or anything. i am not sure what part of the leg it is either...

any suggestions... i know that if it doesnt get better by this weekend i have to take him to the vet...but i am super short on money right now and cant really afford any vet bills right now...

If he doesn't seem to be in any pain, my first thought is a pulled muscle/charlie horse. If it is that, it should work itself out. You might want to limit his running around in the meantime. Is your vet someone you can call with a question without incurring an expense?

Limit his movement for a day or two - crate him as much as he'll tolerate and keep him from using stairs. If things don't improve, get him checked out. If it isn't serious, the rest will give it a chance to heal. These things can either be nothing much, like a strained muscle, or something that needs attention, like a ruptured ligament. Either way, a limp puts stress on the whole body and can cause issues in the back and other legs, especially if the dog is on the heavier side.
I've had both kinds of issues with my dogs - temporary strains and serious ruptures - and they both looked the same, except one went away and the other didn't.
Best of luck, I hope he heals quick!

alright... an up date

when i went in the he was acting crazy scared as usual...(he doesnt like the vet)

so we got him up on the table and the vet checked his bones and nothin broken... but he said the acl might be torn.. and that he had to sedate him and take x rays. the sedation was cause he wouldnt calm down and his leg was too tense to feel anything

so they took him back.. all the while im freakin out about the torn acl news... and having to go to surgary and how am i going to pay for this and all those other things you worry about when you sit and wait..

when he vet came in and asked if i wanted to hear the good news... so now torn acl

i was so happy...but he does have a sprained knee..

so no anything until for two weeks. no couch, no jumping on my bed, no running, no stairs, no playing, no walks, no fetch, no tug, NO NOTHING... i think ill go crazy from just him going crazy... but hopefully the meds will help and the rest too..

ya donna i dunno if i can do it... once again the baby gates r up so he cant use the stairs. and when he goes outside i have to either leash him or make sure he goes potty and then comes right back in.

other wise it should be easy. he is kenneled in the winter anyway when i am working so that should help..
