We noticed this evening that Ben has one eye that is very bloodshot and is producing a very light yellow discharge.

It is too late to call the vet so I have just cleansed it with a damp cloth.

I am going to try to get him in to the vet tomorrow morning.

I am thinking that he may have scratched it or I may have gotten some shampoo in it when I gave him a bath this morning.

He is eating, drinking, and playing normally. He is not fussing with it at all.

Does anyone have any ideas if I should do anything else until I can get him to the vet?

Hopefully it was just the shampoo and not that he scratched is eye somehow. No matter what, I would not let him paw or scratch at it. It is good that he does not seem to be inclined to do so. Let us know what the vet says.

Murphy had the same thing for a few days around 7 months. He had scratched his eye in a small scuffle.

A couple days of discharge/bloodshot and it was fine. Sounds exactly like Ben's eye. I hope it's as simple for Ben and you!

Thanks everyone

We went to the vet this morning.
He has a little bit of an infection and some irritation in his eye. No sign of any scratches.
We got some some eye drops for him. He should be back to normal in a few days!
