Ok, so to update any of you who are reading this who don't know...I'm the new proud owner of a rescued 1 or 2 year old beagle. Here is an update and some observations We've made since he came home.
1. Tobie is an awesome dog. He is the sweetest and funniest pet I have ever owned. He constantly makes us laugh and loves playing "tag" with the kids.
2. Tobie is the most curious pet I have ever owned. This dog gets into anything and evrything that isn't seven feet off the ground. He has not destroyed or broken anything like many other dogs we have owned...it's almost like the thrill of finding it and having us take it away from him is his goal.
3. He has had no accidents in the house or in his crate. I beleive we may have really lucked out here with this dog already being housebroken...only time will tell, but we are off to a great start.
4. This dog loves to have his belly rubbed and chest scratched. Anytime I tell him he is good and begin to praise him for his "good" behaivior...he immediately rolls over on his back and waits for me to come over to him.
5. He doesn't bark or howl much...seems strange for a beagle and maybe he's just getting used to his new surroundings, or maybe he's just real laid back...whatever the case, I'm not complaining.
6. The dog has a hearing problem...or should I say listening problem. it's like he's realted to our kids or something. Neither of them seem to process what we tell them. LOL! Anyway, he will have to go to school soon to learn how to follow some basic commands. Besides not listening he is really stubborn and strong willed. He does not give up easily.
So, all in all our experience with Tobie has been fun and exciting. We couldn't be more pleased with his "habits" thus far and realize the snooping thing is probably just somthing we'll have to deal with and stay on top of him about. Any comments would be much appreciated, as we are new to the breed as well as this dog in particular. Thanks!
