(ok so first im sorry if im not posting in the right spot but it seemed like i was):scary:

so my puppy that i got back in october has been getting some really bad breath latley and its starting to like be a problem only because anything that he licks or puts in his mouth is reecking of his breath i bought Pro Pet breath tabs (which idk if they are a good brand or not but my vet told me to buy them) and their tooth paste too the tooth paste kinda helps but not as much

and well hes around 4 and 3 weeks old i know puppys tooth around this time but hes only lost 1 tooth


also are beagle big time shedders cuz my poor snoopy leaves hair all over and i brush him almost every other day ?
any help sorry if its long

The bad breath could be a result of his diet. What are you feeding him? I never heard of the Pro Pet breath tabs but maybe someone else has experience with this.

Does he have any other health issues, such as stomach upset, loose stool, etc?

As far as losing teeth, that varies with the dog. It seemed to take forever for one of our beags to loose his teeth and our second lost his rather quickly.

Shedding occurs seasonally for our beagles and doesn't last too long. A regular brushing/combing will help. I highly recommend the Furminator (or something similar). We use it and it really gets rid of a lot of the loose fur!

Keep us posted, and hopefully you will get some other advice on the bad breath issue

For the shedding, I like to use a coat supplement to add to their food. We give them high quality food, but also like to give cost supplement from Pet Botanics. We have to order it online as we haven't found in a store anywhere. It makes the kids coats very soft and helps keep the shedding to a minimum.

Try to get the best food you can get. The higher quality food, the less you have to get them, so it makes up for itself in the price. Also the most expensinve isn't always the best and each dog is different for what works for them. There are some posts that talk about dog food quality, so check those out.

I sometimes add egg to help with the coat. Has the vet seen the pup lately? When did the sheddding occur? I only ask bec blu was diagnosed with demodectic mange from losing hair like he aws shedding.

well sinces this so called "Florida Freeze" and i brush him like at least 5 times a week
i find hairs every were i mean hes not like bald but its like worrying me cuz i thought beagles werent heavy sheders....so has anybody had bad breath probs with beagles?

winter is almost over so he may just be losing his winter coat so to speak. as for the breath i would try a different food. just buy a small bag and see if it makes a difference. on the rare occasion we have had breath problems i pick some mint from the garden and tease them with it until they get mad enough to eat some, just a little works wonders.

As far as the shedding goes, I swear that every one of the beagles I've had should have been bald! At times, it seemed like I had tubleweeds of hair rolling through the house! After a few years, I just got used to it and never thought about it much.

You can curb the bad breath by brushing his teeth every other day. It also unlikely you'll find many of the "baby" teeth. As they'll come out while chewing on a toy and rarely show-up afterwards.

As for the shedding I don't think beagles are too bad in that regard. I would just bath him once a week and brush him every other day too. Use one of those rubber mits to brush him. They're get more hair and I think they're easier to use.

Beagles are constant shedders. Some people don't notice as much because their hair is short and coarse, so it's not as obvious when it's all over as with longer haired dogs. Hair goes through growing and shedding cycles, and there are times when the shedding's more severe than other times. I use one of Bissell's vacuums made specifically for pet hair, and even though I vaccuum often, it both amazes and grosses me out how much hair is in the canister when I empty it after a vacuuming. I could build a whole new dog.
