At least this weekend didn't cost anything. (Yet... It's only Sunday morning.)

Last weekend was Sadie's $500 emergency stay at the Vet's. She's doing great and will get the last bit of prescription diet mixed with her usual kibble, tonight.

Sparky's been the star this weekend. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rotatesmiley2.gif
Once Friday, and once Saturday, he managed to bolt out the front door.

Both times, he ran down the street to the new house at the end of the block. Thankfully, that was his intended destination and I was able to catch him there, and thankfully there were no cars on the road both times.
They have a pair of little fur-ball dogs of some kind. I guess he can smell them from our back yard and wants to go visit.

Then... He likes to chase the little lizards in the back yard. When I saw him rooting around the well water equipment, I didn't think anything of it.
Then I saw the rattle snake!
To make a long story short... The dogs went in the house until a very dead snake was thrown over the fence.

Sparky! Your daddy is supposed to be able to relax on the weekend silly boy. Just tell him you want to go for a nice walk to see the pups down the street. I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige. And while those snakes make a cool noise, they aren't toys! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pureevil.gif

Bruce, you really have your hands full! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Their Mama would say she deserves the award, and she'd be right! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleepy.gif

It's all a great adventure! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yay.gif
(Except for Sadie being sick. That wasn't much fun at all.)

I remember the rattlesnake days in the woods with my cockers. Once, I freaked out so bad over the snake (tying the dogs to a nearby tree while I beat the thing to death, lol) that they seemed to get the message and gave any snake a wide berth after that. I guess they figured they were getting the next whuppin!

How scary! And here I thought I had my hands full this weekend trying to watch Duke like a hawk to make sure he stays away from the apricot tree. You take the prize for an adventure-filled beagle weekend!

I'm glad to hear Sadie is doing well and hope you have a nice, peaceful weekend now (or what is left of it).

Life with a beagle is always one big adventure! We haven't had a rattlesnake in the yard in several years now, thank goodness, but we do get the occasional gopher snake.

I know what you mean about expensive weekends. We just finished paying for Miss Priss's mishap. Would be nice to go a month without a big vet bill. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Glad you caught Sparky, also glad you noticed the snake. Around here, it's more likely we'll see copperheads. They're scary with pets around, too. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rotatesmiley2.gif That's why we don't bother king snakes .
