my opinion is a six week pup should be with you all the time.
you can view other posts on the subject that will tell more, but there are major developmental stages that puppies go through at certain weeks.
i would reference those and then make my decision.
others will add their experiences also.
we never did crate train bonnie and clyde. but we did champ,
he still likes to get in his crate and sleep.
one thing that helped when he was little was to put the crate in our room, then put him in the crate at or very near his bedtime (seemed to be the same virtually every night), then put a blanket over the crate to make it dark. he would whine a little, then go t sleep, but when he woke up and whined, i or the wife would immediately get up, CARRY him straight outside, and set him down in the grass and say, go potty
if you dont pick him up, he may go the second he gets out of the crate.
those are vague memories though.
