Today we had to take our boy to the vet for the last time. He had surgery in the spring that really aged him, then he got chronic bronchitis and 2 days ago he was in so much pain he couldn't walk. He was such a good boy, definitely a Daddy's boy! Our house is silent, we have had dogs/cats for 30+ years. He was our remaining beagle.

Thank you. It's hardest on my husband because he is retired and had his routine with his boy. The house is so silent - no tapping of toe nails.

Oooh I'm so sad to hear this! I'm so sorry for your loss of Oliver; definitely the saddest day of being owned by a beagle. I hope it will get easier in time but I admit that after 3+ years, I still mourn the loss of Ally. I cry, think of her everyday, dream of her, and remember the sounds she made. But then I get joy for the wonderful years she was with us. My thoughts are with you and your husband.
