Hi there,
I adopted Oreo, a 6-year old Beagle mix last Saturday.

So far, he's still adjusting and is scared of almost everything inside (except eating chicken!). But he perks up when I take him on walks (2x/day), doesn't pull and hasn't had an accident in the week I've had him. He's my first dog so I'm looking forward to contributing and getting information on how to help him be a happy dogg. Thanks!

to BW! Three cheers to you for rescuing an older beagle. You refer to Oreo as a beagle mix but he sure looks all beagle to me. Try to focus on the positive progress -- as has been said, it will take some time for Oreo to trust that he has really found his forever home. If you know any of his history, that would help you in working out some his baggage.

Welcome to you and Oreo!!! In time, Oreo will make himself right at home! Do you know any of his history? That may explain his behavior (good or bad!).

We look forward to hearing stories about Oreo!!

Thanks for welcoming me. The rescue group listed him as a beagle mix so I can't tell what, if anything, might be in his mix. He does seem all-Beagle. He was brought in a stray so nothing about his history.

He's slowly improving; actually wagged his tail a little when I took him out of crate Friday morning. And he's eating his dry food (mix with a smidge of water) now instead of turning his nose up at it.
