According to my mother in law, who is watching the pup in texas until we get him on monday, Luigi is crying in the middle of the night, but doesn't have to poop or pee. (they take him out, he does nothing) He's in his crate when this happens. Will this behavior go away or is this something we should be concerned about?

Perfectly normal.

Sound like he misses his mommy and siblings. I would place a used t-shirt of yours in the crate with him when he sleeps. Also, a little clock under a big warm pillow in his crate, to make it feel like a heart beat. That can help.

In any case, they usually get used to the new situation within a few days. They just need stability and love. Luigi will be fine!

A heated toy (one that you put in the microwave) also gives them the comfort of a kennel mate. Blue cried for the first two nights, but after that he cuddled with his "BoBo" and dad's t-shirt (which has been torn to shreds) and went to sleep. He did wake up quite a bit and for the first week we woke him and took him out every hour to help with potty training. Now he only wakes up when one of us gets up in the middle of the night, but only to remind us that we woke him up and then he goes back to sleep!!!:)
