Menolly's Birthday- ideas?

Hey guys. I'm in the process of planning what to do for Menolly's first birthday party. I already know I want to make her a cake and a bandanna that says 'Birthday Girl', but beyond that, I'm stumped.
She doesn't have any doggie pals to come over- guests will be strictly human- so the conventional dog party ideas won't really work.

Any suggestions?

Make a little flip book of the first year of her life leaving some room for your guests to comment on the photos. It can work as a memento of the party as well by acting almost as a signature book. Sorry...not feeling real creative tonight.

I'll check with my sister on this one-she comes up with great party ideas. I love the photo book idea. Around here social events are always centered around food, so maybe have some human snacks that are safe for Menolly to eat?

that snack idea is a good one!! guests always want to feed the dog.

You'll have to give them a party favour though! lol go to the dollar store and get a tiny wallet sized frame or something and put her picture in them

let us know other ideas you come up with and how it all goes. I want to plan Zelda's party soon!

Ice cream for the adults and frosty paws for Menolly? LOL!

OOOOhhhh...how about a game where guests compete to see who can get Menolly to bark or bay the quickest or the most times?

I really like the memento book idea. That is adorable. I also like the idea of food that both people and Menolly can eat. Maybe you can get her to howl along as you sing Happy Birthday, or modify the song to all-howling? I know that seems a bit silly, but I think it would be lots of fun!

Re: Menolly's Birthday- ideas?

I really like the memento book idea.
My only problem is half the pictures I have of Menolly are on the computer- and we don't have a color cartrige. :p What I might be able to do instead is tape/glue a bunch of Menolly's pictures to a large peice of posterboard, then have the guests write birthday messages to her; sort of like an autograph board.

As you can imagine I'm on a very limited budjet, so most of the decorations and stuff are going to be made out of things I already have. I've already made bone and pawprint stencils and plan on making a birthday banner, a fire hyrdrant sign for the bathroom door, and putting up different peices of doggie trivia around the kitchen, backyard, and living room.

You guys have helped get the creative juices flowing, so I've got an idea of what I want to do-

I will set out a table full of treats for both humans and dog, long with a veggie platter that has dog-safe vegetables like carrots. Even the birthday cake can accomodate humans! :)(that's one of the things I'll use the pawrint motif on)For game I'm going to see who's the best dog trainer, has the most doggy knowlege, etc. I have no idea what to use for prizes as most everyone coming will be an adult. I will print out a bunch of doggy coloring pages and set out crayons and colored pencils for any kids that come, though. I also like the photo idea, but as I said, most of her pictures are on the computer and I don't have many others to spare. Hey...Dad has a Polaroid camera...if I can find some film for that, maybe I could take pictures of each person with Menolly and send the pictures home with them!

I don't know about the howling idea, LOL. Menolly never howls unless she's trying to scare someone off or sound the alarm about an intruder. Besides, I think my family would leave. They don't like her howling.

I'm not really sure who to invite yet, except one of my- and Menolly's- closest friends. I may just ask anyone who likes dogs if they're free that weekend.
