Dog Carnivore Grey Comfort Companion dog
Hello! This is our new puppy Althea. She is 8 weeks old. Wanted some opinions on if she is a pure beagle. She has ckc papers, we also have a AKC male lemon beagle. The reason I ask is our male doesn’t have the freckles like her. What’s your thoughts? We love her no matter what obviously, she’s the sweetest baby girl! I’ll post a pic of our male also! Thank you

She is so cute, they both are! Lots of beagles have the freckle legs. She could be a mix but is definitely all hound!

Thank you! Yes I’ve seen a lot of pictures of beagles with freckles like her. She’s doing so well adjusting to our home and her new brother (Jerry)!
Last night she slept in her crate for 7 hours!

Welcome to you and Althea! The only way to know for sure, if she is PB, is to do genetic testing. I used Embark for Natty Boh. I believe it is the most accurate. I knew Natty Boh wasn't PB, but was curious about his other breeds. He is 65% beagle. His next highest breed is Pomeranian, then Pekingese, and a tiny bit of chow. Never would have guessed that. I was thinking beagle and JRT. No JRT. LOL!

Your beagles are beautiful. Around here it’s called blue ticking. Lots and lots of pure bred beagles have it. Personally speaking I love blue ticking. My boy Duck and little Miss Ella both have blue ticking. I have had beagles with and without it.

She's gorgeous, the ticking is an acceptable standard marking for beagles. As Natty Boh mentioned, genetic testing is the only way to know for sure. Molly's breeder uses Embark also. She had a full panel run on her not just breed-specific so I have all information including predisposition to health conditions (which fortunately she has none) so there is value in it, if you can afford it. Embark does have discounts from time to time.
