After posting a reply to Cassidy in Stages, I thought I'd post some recent pics of Maggie so somebody can tell me whether her ears are too long.

Beagle ears too long? I don't think there is such a thing -- to me, long ears are a wonderful attribute. Maggie is absolutely adorable! As she gets older, I expect she will grow into her ears.

Thanks for replying. I see I've double-posted again. Anyway, I feel much better. Just when I get excited to have a Beagle, the vet tells me she isn't. The first time he examined her, he said she was a male. The next time, he said she was female. Makes you wonder about vets.

Does that vet wear glasses? If no he should!! That is a beagle!!! One, sweet, cuddly, loveable furry cutie! Unless Maggie was dressed in underpants, the vet should have known a boy from a girl! lol

She looks all Beagle to me. I'm not sure I see any basset in her. Are you happy with your vet?

Maggie's ears are just fine! My boyfriend and I used to make comments all the time about Bones' huge ears when she was that age, especially in comparison to Spock's ears. Bonesy, you will never grow into those! How did you get such big ears? They're not any longer than her muzzle, but they just looked huge on her since she was so thin and young. As she has aged and filled out, her ears don't stand out as much. But it's normal, not to mention adorable. Maggie's third picture there is just so cute.

When it comes to Beagle ears: the longer the better (I say!!).
She is beautiful.

I'd say that the vet isn't an expert on breeds. Maggie sure looks all beagle to me, and her ears are great.

With a beagle, the long ears help catch scents and direct them to their nose. So longer ears are better.

Maybe Cassidy can give the baby eagles lessons. One of them is flying but his sister needs some serious remedial flight 101 - she fell out of the nest Tues and a tree guy had to put her back.

She is very pretty . The long floppy ears of a beagle are so lovely , I don't think they could be too long .

The longer the better. You have a beautiful beagle there, but I would change my vet if I were you.

very pretty, the ears look fine sometimes they need to grow into them a bit. Also thats weird that your vet couldn't sex her properly...i mean...its pretty obvious at her age...if your not happy with their overall services i'd def. find someone new.

she also looks pure beag to me.

Looks like a pure Beagle to me. I'm astonished your vet didn't know what sex she is...strange lol...it's not as if it's hard to tell like it is with some rodents etc.

I agree with everyone else...she looks like a pure breed Beagle...she is also very cute and I wouldn't worry about those ears too much...they are too cute!

If the vet can't tell the diff between a male and female, lol, you need a new vet. My 14 year old sister could tell you that.
