today i took sophie and twitchy to the beach. as we walked along the boardwalk we met a nice lady with 4 beagles. it's funny (to me) how the breed recocnizes each other right away. anyhow, as i stood there talking to the lady, one of the dogs peed on my leg! hahaha!!! she seemed embarrased and said she never saw the dog do that before.
i told her it was his way of telling me we are buds now.
actually, i don't really know why he did that , but i got a laugh out of it, and the dogs had a great time at the beach. i was really happy to see other beagles. i rarely do here.

We don't run into other beagles often either but Maggie always goes right toward them when we do.

Dog peed on you becuase he smelled the scent of your dog on you and he marked you as his to cover up your dog's smell.

I agree, beagle do seem to realize other beagles and in my case are more attracted to them than breed of dogs.

I have noticed the same thing. Tucker is usually attracted to other beagles. We love it when we go to the dog park and there are other beagles there. We have had a few times where there has been 7 or 8 beagles there at the same time. We just talk to the other owners and the beagles play and sniff.

Bones likes other beagles, too. When we go to the dog park, if she bothers to play with other dogs, she usually plays with beagles (and the occasional JRT).

it was a good day because all winter long i have been looking forward to taking my dogs there. now i know they will enjoy it as much as i suspected they would

We have a neighbor 3 houses down that has a female beagle and boy do they recognize their own breed. When I take buddy out for a walk first thing he does when he gets out the door is look over to the other house to see if his girlfriend is out. And if she is he makes a mad dash right towards the house. She usually sees him and she lies down on the ground and waits for him to get there. Truly is funny.

Now if we are walking and another dog would pass by thats a different breed he really could care less and just keeps on walking.

While walking Murphy, my next door neighbor stopped and started talking to me. After 10 minutes, Murphy walked over and peed on her shoes. It was like... Dad, its time to go! She laughed it off.
