I swear I'm not insane and I'm not sure what actually possessed me to do it...

Earlier today I picked up a box of Wellness Wellbars: Yogurt, Apple, and Banana dog treats for Banjo. I opened the bag tonight and he went absolutely nuts over them! I gave him one after he performed a command and he gobbled it up like it was doggy ice cream. So I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and smelled the bag. They actually smelled pretty good so I couldn't resist the temptation and tried one. I liked them. A lot actually, lol. I ate about 5 more.

Am I weird or have any of you tried your dog's food? If you have, did you like it, LOL?

If anything, I guess this just shows the quality of some pet food companies, such as Wellness, are quite decent.

LOL!!!

I haven't tried any of their treats, but my son has come close, but chickened out in the end.

Years ago, my mom and I had gone to the store for groceries and we bought our poodle a bag of doggie beef jerky. I couldn't find the treats when we got home and just when I started to ask my mom where they were, from the living room we heard my dad call out, That beef jerky is good, did you get any more? Needless to say, Mom and I about fell on the floor laughing!

I've never tried any of Jersey's treats. I usually make her's from scratch and I've been tempted to taste them but never had the courage to actually do it. I know they are all made out of regular ingredients, things I keep in my pantry to cook for myself...but I just can't get past them being dog treats.

Understandable! But these smelled too good to resist. They actually tasted like dry Nutrigrain bars. I hope Banjo doesn't get mad when I sneak one for myself once in a while, LOL.

Zookeeper, your story is too funny!

Star Wars Beagle, were they marketed for animals or human treats that were just safe for those other species to eat?

I forgot to add...the girls that work at the day care I take Jersey to ate the last treats I brought them. They didn't realize they were dog treats. I had made chocolates for Valentine's Day out of carob, peanut butter and yogurt chips. The girls said they were pretty good.

Greg tries most of Blue's treats. He has told me that the Chicken Tender jerky strips are great. We do make homemade treats and don't give them to any dogs before we try them ourselves. Since they are lacking in sugar and salt, they are somewhat bland but not bad. Carob I can do without though, it is too bitter for me!!

OK, I don't think you were insane to try them. But then you ate 5 more. LOL!!!!!!!! That really cracked me up.

When I was a kid, there was a pet store that had this huge barrel of milk bones that you could buy by the pound. My friends and I would go there and I would eat a milk bone for a quarter

Our pet food shop says everything in their shop is edible for humans as well, except the dried guts. They swear they have tasted all the dog food (cans etc). I wouldnt like to try the cans but could see no harm in the biscuits. I guess anything bad for humans would have to be labelled as such.

Well, bender, as long as you don't start howling or chasing your tail, I suppose you're okay!!
I've never tried Shiloh's food myself, but when my youngest was a baby, he used to toddle over to our little poodle Misty's food and share a few bites with her!! He's fine now, though. Other than that strange habit of turning around in his bed 3 times before he goes to sleep...!!

Too funny

I have on the odd occassion tried dog food treats.

Only the other day I bought a can of doggie dessert. It was supposed to be summer pudding flavoured. When I opened the can the smell was mouth wateringly delicious and I was tempted to try it but resisted the urge as even though it said it didn't contain any meat it sure looked liked it did.

Insane ... no! Strange ... well, we will reserve judgment -- just kidding!
I haven't tried Maggie's treats or food even though all I give her is human quality stuff. The Wellness products are really super. I have always thought that, if we have a really bad hurricane and no electricity for an extended period of time, I could share Maggie's food with her!

When I was young I used to eat my dogs milk bones. They were rather bland. Yes as an adult, I have also tasted Tucker's dog food. It is still bland. He loves it. Of coarse being a beagle, he'll eat anything. Today he tried eating the lawn fertilizer (in case anyone is worried, we only get organic fertilizer that is safe for dogs. We even called up the help line to make sure).

Recently on the Animal Planet show The Groomer Has it, the contestants had to make dog treats. The judge determined the best one by eating it himself.

I forgot who they were marketed to, but they were in Petsmart. They had serving sizes for all the different sizes of animals.

Oh yeah, I forgot; my mom and I have made dog biscuits for our dogs before and we've tried them! The oatmeal ones were pretty good. The ones flavored with chicken broth tasted kind of like the ChickenInABiskit crackers, only not as salty and more breadlike.

LOL reminds me of an old show with Lucille Ball where she made up a dog food jingle that went like this:

'I feed my doggie Arf Arf
I buy it by the bunch
I know it's tasty dog food
I eat it myself for lunch'
