Sorry, I haven't been around. My work PC got messed up, then I had a training seminar, then a job site visit the next day.

On Wednesday, Kali had her stitches removed, cast removed, new x-rays taken and a new cast put on after they cleaned and disinfected her leg. The x-rays show that one bone is mending well. The other not so well, it will take longer but it will not mend normally. Kali's vet (not Summer's) is happy with what she sees. She is very pleased with how she looks and acts. She said she was happy we adopted her.

I, on the other hand, am not happy with the way her paw is healing. I was not pleased with the x-ray. If its not to my liking in 3 weeks (our next splint change) I will be taking the x-rays to either Summer's vet at the same hospital or the specialist who rebuilt Summer's knees and back.

Otherwise, Kali is a happy, healthy, playful, willful, stubborn, smart, cuddly, little baegle. She and Summer play all the time. Its funny to see Summer bare her belly to Kali when they play, giving Kali the advantage. if Kali gets to rough, Summer puts an end to it fast. Kali does so many things that remind us of Murphy when he was that age, we just have to smile.

Thanks for the update. As you well know, go with your instincts -- if you have any doubts about her paw, go for the second opinion. Was her paw a crush injury? With regard to her leg, you said one bone will not mend normally -- is that ever?
I am so glad to read about how well Summer and Kali are getting along!

No its not a crush injury. It is a diagonal break (both). The ring finger bone between the knuckle and wrist (in human terms) has rejoined. The index finger bone (same area, is bent at the knuckle so the broken bone is fusing to the side of the knuckle.

It's great to hear that Summer and Kali are getting along so well. I'm sure Summer is happy to have a friend again and I'll bet Kali is even happier to be in a loving home now. As for Kali's paw, I hope that it starts healing soon. Trust your instincts with her doctor. If you're not happy with the results get another opinion.

I'm glad your girls are doing well together! What happened to Kali to cause so much damage (sorry, I haven't been a member that long so I must have missed the story)?

Well how did I not hear about Kali? Well I have been very busy with work the kids and the end of the Agility season.

She is a cutie and has fallen into a very safe pair of hands, I do hope that she makes a full recovery. Kali and Summer seem to have hit it off right from the start. Here's to a long and happy future together.

P.S The new handle is fine as well.
