Just a quick question

I noticed a lot of people here are kinda new to me and have new puppies.

First of all, Welcome if I havent said it to you already.

My ? is, when you got a new beagle, did he/she cry and wine alot at first, if so how long did it take for them to get comfortable with you leaving them alone? And did someone stay with him at first all day long, if so how long?

With Snoopy, who was 1.5yrs when we got him, and he was a rescue, it took about 3 month until he was able to be comfortable in the crate without us there....AND he was already house trained, so that wasnt an issue...I just wonder if it was the crate, the fact he was a rescue, or does it take them all this long.

Thanks
Amanda and Snoops

Oh god, I can only wish Pam.
I got Chloe at 3 months old. Was with her the first weekend (which wasn't enough time to crate break her) and she wouldn't stay quiet in there. You know how vocal beagles get, especially when they cry, so after the neighbors started complaining to the management, I just couldn't keep her "caged". She has roaming privilages, which made it very difficult to potty train her.
She is very good when I'm around (even for 12 hours), but when I come back from work, I usually find a small circle of pee.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
She knows it's wrong (when she sees I spotted it, she will run behind the sofa... with an "I'm sorry" expression :hi: ), and I believe she just can't hold it (or won't bother when I'm not there) so she gives up.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
I would say she is 90% trained by now...
