Sam was our first pet/child. We got married and got Sam. He had many names, Sam, *****, Sammy. We were like the 3 Muskateers. Sam lived to be 14. We adored him. He was a wild and crazy boy as a youngster. Then as he got older and calmer he was very loving and understood everything we said and felt.

Here is Sam as a young fella:

He was a beautiful boy:

And here he is a dignified older gentleman:

The pictures are a wonderful glimpse into your life together, as Sam matured.

Fourteen years together.....sounds like a long time, but it goes so quickly!

Karen and I, by choice, never had children. We’re now pushing 50. (Ok... I’m pushing 50.) Sadie is our first real “baby” . We’ve raised several cats from kittens, but it’s just not the same. Our previous dogs were adult, rescues. A wolf-mix that needed a home, and several retired racing Greyhounds. I’ve read about “the trials of owning Beagles” here, and feel for every one of you that have been through, or are going through trials right now. Our day will come.
When our favorite Greyhound passed, I said that they don’t live long enough for how attached you get to them, and I told myself that I’d never give that much of my heart to a dog again. Then came Sadie. This thread about Sam made me realize how special it is to be able to experience the whole life cycle of a beloved pet, and then to be able to start all over again.
Right now, these are good times for us. I will always remember them. Sadie caught her first rabbit, was the “Breed of the Month” model in the local “Pooch Press”, and is learning how to share Dad with his new flock of chickens... And that's just this past week!

This is Tyrone. He Was the greatest...

Karebru,

All of our beetles and now seeing Tyronne's photo...just shows how special hounds are.

Tyronne looks so beautiful and graceful. How long ago did you loose hime and how did you come to have him?

Maybe a new post just for him in this thread...

Thanks Rick. We lost Sammy in January 2000. A month after his passing we got Sadie and Pooh Bear, 2 wild little Beagle pups. We have Sam's ashes in a basket with silk flowers in it in our bedroom. We tell Sadie and Pooh all about their big brother Sam. Sam's temperment was right in the middle of Sadie and Pooh's. Sadie is the wildest, hard headed, strong willed, brave little girl. Pooh Bear is so very laid back and sweet and timid but playful. Sam was right in the middle of the 2 as far as personality and termperment.

M2B,Sam "the elder boy" looks a lot like Goober! He recently turned 15 as (Im sure you know)...Since he is my familys longest living beag to date. Sam will surely be playing with Daisy, Snapper & Duke to name a few at the bridge! I know that Goober will not live forever, but so far he is very healthy for a beag his age! Thanks to modern medicine & advances in pet-care...A dog's life has been extended as well as a humans! (Next month my small home will be paid for after a 15 yr mortguage) & it would be great if Goober lived long enough to explore our new & larger home!
