Hiccups and itching...

Winston also hiccuped alot. It eventually stopped too. He also itched ALOT. It was concerning then, but now we've learned what's too much and what's not, as well as being able to keep it down. It could be anything from dry skin to an allergy. Both can be kept controlled by feeding high end grain free food and treats. Also keep his skin and coat health in mind when choosing food and treats.
we are feeding him the same dog food he was having at the breeders house, and he seems to be doing fine with the food. As for the bowl, I am just feeding him out of a standard stainless steel bowl. I do know that at his old house he wasn't fed on tile, and that is what we are feeding him on now. Do you think he has an allergy to the tile? Or maybe he has an allergy to the cleaning solution I used to mop the floor?

ceramic bowls are perfectly safe if thats wat you mean? they actually prevent black doggy noses from discoloring. anyway i digress, some dogs have a food allergy to the fillers used in alot of grocery brand dog foods, allergies to grains is the most common dog food allergy, espcially corn. this type of allergy will cause the dog to be itchy. Feeding a high quality no grain food usually help eliminate it completely.
such as merricks, innova, blue wilderness etc.
my personal prefrence is blue buffalo.
also you feed a higher amount (in the recommended chart) of said grocery brands then of the higher quality food because the higher quality usually means a higher percentage of crude protein, so they can eat less of it, and still be healthy etc. this can also help with weight management etc. anyway there are lots of dog food dog allergy posts around here i'd suggest using the search tool if you think little leo might have one and doing alittle reading up, also if you go to the health section at the top is a link to a dog food analysis website that gives you an analysis and ranking of dog foods based on their ingredients, and protein content etc.

all our pups itched constantly for at least 4-6 weeks.
never seemed to have rashes or problems, we always fed good food,
ie, innova or other.
the hiccuping i dont remember, but champ always had throw up, or reverse sneeze whenever he drank water, etc...

If he's itching, it could be a sign the food is not working for him.
By environmental, I meant things like pollen/grass/fleas etc. These can all cause itching - has he been treated for fleas recently?
ETA: One of my dogs was on Artemis and had a serious reaction, she was itching and biting herself until she bled - and Artemis is one of the best dog foods on the market! The quality of the food means nothing IF the dog is allergic to a particular protein source like chicken.
